This is a personal site. There's no login, no forms, no ads. The only thing worth explaining is the analytics.
Analytics is off until you say yes
The first time you visit, a banner asks whether to allow anonymous analytics. Nothing is captured before you answer, and declining is just as easy as accepting — your choice is remembered so you won't be asked again.
What's collected if you opt in
- Page views, and which page you came from
- Clicks on the GitHub/LinkedIn links and terminal commands (
github,linkedin) - Which blog post you read
- 404s, so I know if a link is broken
- Core Web Vitals (load speed, responsiveness) — no content, just timing
What's not collected, even if you opt in
- No recording of clicks, taps, or form input elsewhere on the page (autocapture is off)
- No session replay / screen recording
- No IP address attached to events
- No advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind
- No personal profile — this site never asks who you are, so none gets created
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, that's respected automatically regardless of what you click.
Who processes it
Analytics runs on PostHog (EU-hosted), reached through this site's own t.vriyas.com subdomain rather than a third-party domain directly. See their privacy policy for how they handle data on their end.
Local storage, not cookies
Two small values are kept in your browser's local storage: your theme choice (light/dark/system) and your analytics choice (granted/denied). Neither is a cookie, neither is sent to a server, and neither identifies you.
External links
The GitHub and LinkedIn links go to those sites directly. Nothing about your visit here is shared with them beyond what your browser normally sends when you click a link.
Your choices
You can change your mind at any time — this reverts you to the not-yet-decided state and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
